The story
On 2 June 2026, in partnership with Care Connect, we ran a full-day menstrual hygiene outreach at Ikeja Senior High School and Opebi Grammar School in Lagos.
Students received free sanitary pads, complete hygiene kits and printed educational materials. Facilitators led frank, judgement-free sessions on menstrual health, body literacy and how to manage a period at school without shame or absence.
Teachers at both schools reported that period-related absence is one of the most common reasons girls miss class. Every kit distributed is a term of school days protected.
